Re: Happy Birthday Steve
Hey Steve. Some of your musical phrases will always feel like home to me, and will say things with more sincerity and nuance than any words could. Also JEMs almost play themselves, so there's that too. Also just release a raw and spontaneous guitar album already, cause fans are suppose to bicker and...

Re: Modern Primitive/PAW25 Discussion!
Even though I'm a fan, Steve's releases might be a bit of hot and miss for me, or at least hit and hits-not-so-much. I still jump on it though, I guess that's what qualifies me as a fan? Anyway, it's just to say that I wasn't sold on Modern Primitive : I previously had not been convinced by the mode...

Re: Modern Primitive/PAW25 Discussion!
Jenn : I received my copy yesterday, but it's been available on streaming services since the release date and I completely abused that option (If I'm correct the free access to Deezer will let you listen but will insert ads in between songs). You also have a handful on tracks officially on YouTube.

Re: How did the records get their names?
Zongadude : you are indeed correct. Steve has a history of making announcements that he doesn't follow through (or takes the long way home, see Modern Primitive !), not that he's idle by any means. But : P & W book, Fire Garden book, Light Without Heat, interactive guitar lessons, stripped down albu...

Re: Passion and Warfare Multitrack Stems
That has been my fantasy for quite some time, and is the next step after the minus ones ("Naked tracks"), for which there is a niche market (just check the jamtrackcentral backings section). If there was some standard session format you could even have regions pre-defined, but that's erotic nightmar...

Passion & Warfare Tab book
Since things are getting all revival-y : my vintage P & W tab book is all messed up, pages come unglued - time for a new one, I guess.
I'm just wondering if anybody could tell me whether the current edition fixed the numerous tab typos the original had.

Re: Well... Let's hear some opinions on The Story Of Light c
There are tracks I love on this release, but the overall album is not that great for me. Hopefully, next album would be released sooner than in 6-7 years, but his music must be taking a lot of time to compose and record. I wish Steve would pull another Alien Love Secrets -y trick out of his bag, sho...

Re: What does Steve Vai think of Guthrie Govan?
The appeal goes out of the door for me, then. When I hear Steve, or Nuno, or Kotzen, or Satriani, I can hear that guitarist's signature sound so easily - but I don't hear it with Guthrie. Just my two cents. I knew Guthrie from teaching and QA videos, like, well, nearly everybody, videos which I lov...

Re: A question to Steve
I'm no Steve Vai, but over the years I have struggled over this and think I found something that works for me, and it seems to align with what Steve is saying. 1) Relaxed does not mean distracted. In the same way that meditation _forces_ you to relax your mind while focusing, you should consciously ...

The entire album stream for a limited time : http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcoming_releases/the_aristocrats_stream_new_album_culture_clash_in_full.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Guthrie is indeed an incredible player and, judging by the videos you can find, an awesome tea...

Re: What picks do you use?
Bumping this : for all the Jazz III lovers out there, there are quite a few variations, and I've been tyring them - though not the Petrucci model yet. Verdict : the Eric Johnson all the way. Not too hard, has a better grip than the standard red one. The Joe Bonamassa has a nice stiffness to it but f...

There is one in the photo section of the Guitar Extravaganza tab book, which is of little help if you want a copy, but I can scan that for you.
