Re: The Official 'Secret Jewel Box' Thread
Wow! has it really been nearly two years since I've last posted here? Jeroen, has Steve ever mentioned if or why he's abandoned the Secret Jewel Box project? I don't doubt that he's an incredibly busy person juggling between family and professional responsibilities, but he's left thoise of us who c...

Re: Story of Light Tour DVD?
It would not surprise me if they filmed a show or two during the European leg or later during the US tour. Steve mentioned that the band usually needs a few weeks under their belt to really gel. I could see improvement from the time I saw them in Ridgefield, CT to New Brunswick, NJ in just three day...

Re: Well... Let's hear some opinions on The Story Of Light c
Hello all. I've been absent from this board for quite awhile but thought I'd wade back in since we have a new release to delve into. Nice to see a few old friends hanging out here. I will be at 2 of Steve's shows in the NYC area in about three weeks. It will be the first shows since the Where The Wi...

Re: The Official 'Secret Jewel Box' Thread
No news is bad news. I'm a huge Vai fan as most know, but I feel like Steve let us down on this. I hope this thing hasn't been dropped altogether.jhammondc wrote:I would love some info the remaining releases. I have been waiting a long time to finish this collection. So, Any news?

Re: Steve - The World's Greatest Living Guitarist?
I voted. What the hell. Might as well show some support for our favorite(s). No poll will ever be perfect, and this one has some notables who aren't even on the ballot. Oh well, Jeff Beck, Steve Vai, and Steve Morse each just received my votes.

Re: Vai have a Little Feat influence?
Just wondering if anyone knows if Steve listened to Little Feat at all. "The Boy From Seattle" really really sounds like "One Clear Moment" by Little Feat, and I've heard general influences that seems to pop up everywhere. I listen to Steve, hear tonnes of dynamics, from bringing a song to barley a...

Re: Steve, Billy and Gregg!!??
Steve has mentioned going into the studio and letting go and doing a live-in-the-studio album. it would either be this trio or substitute Terry Bozzio for Gregg and I think you would have a real winner. Gregg is extremely versatile and has plenty of chops. I would look forward to this if it were to ...

Re: Lucky Charms
Greetings. I asked Steve about Lucky Charms at the NYC EVO experience. He said he wasn't happy with it in rehearsal. He took it out of the set list (or never put it in) because they couldn't perform the song to a level that Steve was happy with. Not a criticism of his band mates per se, but a demons...

Re: Naked Tracks
Not being a guitar player, I actually enjoy these new releases purely from a musical standpoint. "Still My Bleeding Heart" is a vamp and not the full backing track but it allows you to focus on that killer Bozzio fill that alternates between snare and bass/toms. Plus its a nice to hear Terry just g...
