Steve talks about some of his songs on his page

Hi guys, I've been trying to find this URL that I used to have bookmarked from vai.com where he has different albums listed and a few songs from each albums. In it, he talks about how he came up with the song, etc. Very interesting stuff. Even lyrics for songs that have just a melody. (I believe K'm...

Hi there, If you pre-order, the orders are going to be shipped early - so hopefully you'll receive it very close to the release date. Airmail usually takes about a week from Los Angeles to Sydney. I know all about it - I'm originally from Australia too. Peace, Mikey vai.com Mikey, I was wondering a...

Dyin' Day - What guitar is Steve using?

I was listening to this song today and I was really paying attention to the tone of the guitar. It does not sound like an Evo at all! And not even humbuckers... I was wondering if anyone knew what guitar he used to record this song? To me it sounds like a Stat... It's so crisp! And the lower notes s...

Re: What is some of Vai's most bluesy songs?

Well it is always difficult when you compare guitarists from different genres, but personally I think that John Mayer takes some beating as a Blues guitarist, if you check out Try! the live CD John's tone is Hendrix-like and the phrasing and feeling in his playing shows what a great talent he is. C...

Re: What is some of Vai's most bluesy songs?

What/which sort of blues? Yea, a few friends of mine were arguing with me that John Mayer plays a much better blues than Steve Vai... First I just started by saying you can never compare two great guitar players, but they proceeded with the argumentation. lol I know Vai is not a blues player...

A sugestion for the threat starter. Don't just look at Steve's low E string. Look at the high E also. You see how the low E is kind of high, but every other string keeps lowering and lowering? Your guitar has all the strings at the same height basically. You should change it so that the high E, B, G...

Dude, I think the high e string is fine... I mean, maybe you are trying to do a vibrato on the high e, and you are pulling it downwards to do it... Instead, you HAVE TO pull upwards to do a vibrato on the e string. Let me know if that was the issue. I know it sounds obvious, but some people don't ge...

Oh man I feel so bad for Steve during For The Love of God. They were playing it so fast and he was making those hand movements to tell the drummer to go the speed limit! I was very, very impressed when he got it all down at that tempo though. The tempo does play a very important role in the song wi...
