That doesn't make much sense. Why would he take a rack unit as a backup to a G-System floor board? Wouldn't he just take cold spare G-System with him as a backup? I'm sure he has some use for it. Maybe he processes the output from his on-stage Fender amplifier with it... -Brent Dunno, maybe he has ...

The G-system has a removable rack unit, so I believe Steve puts that in his normal rack and then uses the G-system foot controller to control everything. The g-system rank doesnt have a front display. I think he might have it there just incase his g-system breaks down, you know, like a backup. Stev...

well I guess I really lucked out. I just picked up a Legacy head, footswitch, and 4-12 cab in very good condition with fresh mesa tubes in it for $620. I couldn't be happier. I love the amp. Probably going to throw some JJ's eurotubes in the preamp section. Nice deal, but JJ preamp tubes have a rep...

Vai using G-Force

I got right up to his amps and rack gear last night (no pics, sorry. I was gonna snap some at the end but they took stuff down pretty quick) and I saw what appeared to be a G Force in the rack. Kinda curious why it was there if he's using the G System :? Weiner had one too, it said "Got Riffs" on th...

Just throw a volume pedal in the loop. The EB ones are good, but make sure you by the 25k one for active pickups or loop use. The one for passive pickups sounds like crap in the loop, I learned this the hard way :(

THanks so much for sharing this! I liked it a whole bunch. It makes some of steve's newest gear easier to get. I think it's funny when he's talking about Jeremy and when he says "Even when you're playing in a big st...big st...theater!" EDIT: Waaaait a moment..."Unique..Just like Steve Vai" Isn't t...

Keeley or analogman DS1 should do it. Tubescreamer would work too

The difference between the g-major and the stomp boxes is like comparing a tursal wagen to a fararri imo. The fararri being the g-major. Then again it is still a bout preference. Some people liek to b simple when others like to have towers of racks. Wow, well that was a really stupid post G major i...

I'm searching for some good deals but I'm still sketchy on getting it since of course I'm a Vai fan and I don't want to look like one of those wannabe guitarists that has all of their favorite artist's gear and only plays their songs. So just to make sure is there any amp that would match legacy's ...

well I love vai's smooth tone that is why I was thinking legacy, but I also like paul gilberts sound that he gets on the get out of my yard album. Also sometimes I play blues like SRV that is why I thought maybe JSX, but I think my Gt-pro might be able to get my legacy bluesy. What do you think? Al...

The legacy can do blues/rock easily. Youu could dial in some nice mid-gain crunch then add a TS9 to bring it up to violin sustain. Its a different beast than the JSX. The JSX is very compressed, the legacy is more open and organic sounding As for the legacy cab, there are differences in the construc...
