Sydney G3 Concert Photos

Hi everyone I was given a photo pass by Vai's management to get some photos of the G3 concert and they actually posted my favourite over on Vai's FB page here - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150713758719026&set=a.117759549025.100452.8232689025&type=3&theater" onclick="window.open(this.hr...

Re: Whitesnake / Vai Donnington review

Ah I remember it as if it were yesterday, seeing Vai's sparkly guitar soar into the air while still magically playing a sustained note. Oh and of course the heart guitar made an appearance. To be honest I preferred the Vai P&W solo section to watching Whitesnake but it was an awesome day, thanks for...

Guitarists on Twitter Chart

Not sure if any of you use Twitter but I have created a ranked chart from 160 guitarists and guitar bloggers which is updated daily. Some familiar names in there like Tom Morello, Slash and of course Steve Vai.

Re: Another recording question.

I just tried recording my new amp using the emulated line output and it sounded horrible doesn't sound anything like what comes out of the speakers, even with heavy EQing. I suggest if you aren't going to mic it looking into a decent speaker emulator or as Petie recommended for me an AxeTrak.

A Genz Benz Black Pearl 30-112, pure awesomeness. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3024/3100178114_aed70c7564.jpg I sure like the looks of that one... :) what kind of amp is that? solid state? modeling? Tube? a combination of the three? What kind of sounds? how many channels? etc. Groove On 8) It is ...

Re: How about a re-record of Passion & Warfare :)?

Frankly, I find the whole 'going back in time' thing just quite sad. It's a great album. Let's just leave it at that. Satch re-released Surfing, then played the entire album at a special gig. I just kind of find that whole sort of nostalgia aspect rather irritating. Just play something new. In fact...

Re: what would you choose?

I'd go and play them both and see which you prefer the sound of, obviously with the different woods there will be some difference in tone. Mind you not that much difference between Alder and Basswood especially with high gain pickups.

Re: Passion and Warfare live

My memory is a bit crap but I remember Steve playing about a 20-30 min solo when I saw Whitesnake headline Donnington Monsters Of Rock festival back in 1990 but it definitely wasn't the whole P&W album!

Re: Sorry another amp question.

If you are looking for something a little cheaper than an Engl I just bought a Genz Benz Black Pearl 30 watt 1x12 combo. It is a class A all tube design with EL84 power tubes which sound amazing when cranked. The nice thing about this amp is that there is a switch to run it on 2 tubes or 4 tubes whi...
