the 80's was by far the best years of music! nothing beats it! If you mean 1780s, I might agree with you. It's pretty simple: a lot of aspiring guitarists like to listen to stuff that is really technical, and the musical that is most obviously technical (when we started playing, I don't think the s...

The songs on Eat 'Em And Smile rock, and that's enough artistic merit for me.

Ahh... I can deal with their older stuff I guess, it's nothing spectacular. But I guess they got back together and I heard some new material of their's on the radio, and it sounded like an even suckier Linkin Park to me. Whatever the people want I guess.

Steve plays lots of wide, intervallic sounding lines. So next time, instead of playing |-------------------------5-7-9----| |-------------------3-5-7----------| |-------------2-4-6----------------| |-------2-4-5----------------------| |-2-4-5----------------------------| |---------------------------...

I have probably said this a hundred time, but focus on playing melodies. And if something sounds like you are just running up and down scales, it's probably because you are :D try using various techniques (slides, hammerons, atlernate and alternative picking, fingerpicking etc...) so you have more w...

Well, if you want it to be in A Phrygian, having an A in the bass somewhere would help.

And none of the chords you described contain an A# in them, which is the charactheristic note of the Phrygian mode, so getting that somewhere in there would be useful... try Fsus4/A or something.

I just listened to Freak Show Excess again and it's amazing... lots of subtleties I didn't pick up the first time through (hey, it was late!). I love the Dream Theater meets Zappa vibe I get from it.

I don't have time for a lengthy review, but... Great production, great songs, great playing by everybody... the first time around, the only thing that irked me was the clapping at the end of Lotus Feet. It just felt weird but I see that this is the only way it could happen so I'm okay with it. I abs...

I play so fast that the strings melt and I transcend the boundaries of time, which is about infinity beats per minute. I can only do it once a year for 2 seconds though and then my muscles need to regenerate.

Uh... about 130ish bpm or so... but I'm not sure how that helps you as a player.
