Re: What amps does everyone have?

Modded Fender Hotrod Deluxe 1x12 Replaced the linear volume pot with an audio pot ( amp doesnt really get any louder past 4 without it, old guitar store trick so you think amps are louder then they are  ) Took out a resistor in the reverb signal path, which makes the reverb less dark and not a...

"Vintage" Pedals worth anything?

My drummer found two pedals in his garage someone apparently left at his house 15 some odd years ago. One is an Ibanez GE-10 Graphic Equalizer, and the other is an Aria DS-10 Distortion. Aria worked fine when I got it. The thing you plug the battery in came off cause the 15 yearold battery leaked ac...

ENGL Straight

I might buy one (broken for $200), but I have no idea how it sounds. I play shreddy fast metal and have pedals to boost it, but im just wondering how it sounds normally. If anyone has any input id appreciate it.

The Deville (4x10) sounds almost the same as the Deluxe. The Deville is a tad louder, and the 4x10 version has less low end. Ive owned a Deluxe for almost 4 years and, if you have the right pedals, is great for metal. I personally dislike the overdrive, very muddy sounding. Its definitly got that fe...

1) Youll need a speaker cable, dont use instrument cables 2) The cab is most likly 8 ohms, most are, double check the manufacturer. 3) I suppose you could hook up the 2 outputs to the 2 inputs on the cab. It wouldnt overpower it cause instead of 100 watts used with 1 output it becomes 50 watts per o...

A friend of mine has the Powerball and ive played it quite a few times. I like it for death metal and what not, but thats about it. Its very bottem-end-y with scooped mids and lots of distortion. Im more power/black metal so the powerball isnt for me (to low and muddy), but still a very nice amp. It...

Ibanez V1 & V2 pickups

I have a set of these from an late 80s early 90s ibanez (not sure exactly), but are these worth anything? Ive seen recently that Ibanez uses V7s and V8s now-a-days so I was thinking that the originals must be worth something. Any thoughts? Also, I just noticed that they reissued the pickup on this h...

Thanks for the info. Ill have to go try me a 1meg pot. :D Another question though. If I install a 1meg as the volume pot, can I keep the tone pots the same or do I have to change those as well?

Mixing 250k and 500k pots

I recently replaced the 250k volume pot in my Jackson with a 500k pot, but kept the tone pots 250ks. It has a brighter sound that cuts better. I'm wondering if anyone else has done this and if they like it. Also, I was looking at a diagram of one of Vai's guitars (not specified) and the diagram was ...

Home Depot for me. Just any local hardware store will have them. Mine were about $4.50 a piece. Just those and some well placed wood screws and youre set.

Thats why if you boost it it sounds much better, but thats just my setup. I have no idea what it would sound like with yours or your style of music. I second the Fulltone OCD as well. Its amazing. Well worth the $140.

The Boss MT-2 sounds good with something in front boosting it via another overdrive/boost pedal. Your BBE would do that nicely. The MT-2 sounds average by itself.
