We had him for 94 years. We should be happy that such a man lived.

Re: Grounding Problem
No, it happens with every pickup. But I also noticed that when only the bridge pickup is selected (5th pickup selector position), the hum gets a lot louder. This doesn't happen when in the 4th position (middle pickup + coil tapped humbucker), the hum is a lot less this way. Is the humbucker wired w...

Grounding Problem
I just bought a guitar second hand, it's a Yamaha Pacifica 812V with S-S-H Configuration (SD Vintage neck and middle, SD Jeff Beck humbucker bridge). Right now it's wired this way: http://joshua27.site90.net/diagram.jpg I understand that the volume and tone knobs aren't connected, and all earth poi...

Re: Is Yamaha too underrated......
I've a Pacifica right now, not sure of when it was made. Yamaha kicked in locking Sperzel tuners, Seymour Duncan pickups (Vintage Single Coils and a Jeff Beck humbucker), and a Wilkinson trem. Pretty good instrument. Neck is thin and fast but only 22 frets, and the body is somewhat strat-like. I al...

Re: Anchoring est mor, viva le non-anchoring :)
Now it seems my way of doing it is odd. I rest my hand on the strings, kind of a mute but only on the ones I'm not hitting particularly the thicker strings so I'm not really doing a palm mute. But when I do need to hit them I 'anchor' my pinky on the body. I don't really rest my palm on the bridge ...

Re: The song that "blows you up"?
Metallica's Enter Sandman.
I even discovered recently that the US Army used that song to scare enemies during the Iraq invasion. Now it blows me up even more.

Definitely Paul Gilbert's Silence Followed by a Deafening Roar. Norwegian Cowbell would be a personal favorite song.

Re: What is some of Vai's most bluesy songs?
Honestly, when Steve plays blues, it doesn't sound like blues at all! There's always some jazzy background to it. Although he really dislikes jazz, I think he has a very good jazz sound.
