I have to take that back. Several songs are tributes, yes, but not in a 'cover' kind of way. 11:11 is awesome.

Re: Rodrigo y Gabriela

I love them, but I agree: their original stuff is much more appealing (to me). A cover is a cover, and even when it's well done there's limited 'replay value' after a listen or two. There's also a fine line between a tribute and a crutch, in a manner of speaking... I was disappointed that their late...

Re: Recording software? guitars?

If there's nothing you like bundeled with your interface, get reaper. Really, it's like 60 bucks and a lot of pros use it too (albeit usually not for the final mix).

In fact, get reaper no matter what. :)

Re: Powerball and guitar playing...

I don't know of anything better to train your picking hand There is only one way to train your picking hand: Playing the guitar by picking the strings the way it´s supposed to be/the way it works for you. There is no way such a thing can help you. I tried it, too and when I got behind picking a yea...

Re: Powerball and guitar playing...

It's just another form of resistance training. It's actually quite a bit more than that and nothing at all like those 'gripmasters' and their clones. Keeping the gyroscope spinning requires a lot of coordination and control, all while keeping a firm grip on the ball itself. You'll find you have a '...

Re: Powerball and guitar playing...

I used one to build wrist strength for Rasgueados, I assume they would also help your picking hand. I find they train the wrist and forearm much more than the fingers, but then you already play guitar for those. It gave a good training counterbalance for the rather one-sided guitar practice. I also ...

Maybe he should stick to litigation for a while.

Re: Digitech:RP1000

Like? Dislike? Saw it in the store? :) The Boss GTs have been doing all that for ages. I don't see how this can come close to a GT-10, even just function wise. Tonally, I hear no dynamics whatsoever. Classic digitech tones. There's a reason they have "digi" in their name. Their modelling sounds abso...

Re: Tremol-no

All I can say is I get everything it says out of it. It's never slipped on me, ever. I think it moved once on me when I screwed the whammy bar on and accidentally left it on when I closed the case. That's the only instance I can think of. It's rock solid when a string breaks and I can easily change ...

Re: Tremol-no

I suggest you send it back or sell it. It was a revelation to me, but you're obviously not happy with it and I don't think it's a simple matter of arguing convincingly in favor. I do think you got your expectations a little high. The point is simply to block your floating trem. It's a simp...

Re: Tremol-no

Try roughing up the bar a little with some sandpaper. That'll give the screws a little more grip. It's high-quality aluminum, so the steel from the screws doesn't make much of an impression on it and hence doesn't have much grip. It's the tradeoff for a durable design. I'll take it. It also sounds l...

Re: Tremol-no

I've had one for several years now, and I love it. IMO it's not primarily meant to enable you to detune your trem-qeuipped guitar (but you can, within reason), it's meant to block your trem where it is like a fixed bridge (or make your trem dive-only) in the tuning that it's usually in. It has been ...

Re: Home recording software

At this stage I'd probably recommend something from Line6 as well. Cheap ($60) and 'fully featured' DAW software are Reaper ( http://www.reaper.fm/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) or EnergyXT ( http://www.energy-xt.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ). Maybe not as ...

Re: news about NUNO and EXTREME

I'm pretty sure he was playing at her AMA 2009 gig already. At least as far as I could tell from the low-quality youtube vid I saw of her performance. About 3:40 in there are two camera passes where you can see the guitarist in the background - I don't think there's another guitar with that cutaway....

Re: Novation "Launchpad"

As a rule of thumb, everything that says 'Ableton' on it is awesome.

With Max for Live this is going to be absolutely incredible. And at around USD200 it's actually affordable.
