First off Robert Fripp : I was looking forward to seeing him and it was interesting, athough I have to say G3 isn't the best platform for his music. He certainly made some interesting sounds with just a guitar, but it had no direction which obviously didn't suit a rock audience. I like ambient music...

I've seen many rock/metal bands over the years and I can safely say that none of them were anywhere near as Vai was on the S&R tour :-( Everyone I've spoken to who was at that gig said that it was the loudest they've ever been too. Maybe that was a one off but I'll certainly be taking my earplugs to...

Of the Eventide range you have the Eclipse, the Orville and the H8000 all of which do similar things to the H3000 and all of which start at well over $2000... If you don't want to fork out the thousands of dollars for an Eventide and can live without some of the power the TC Electronic FireworX is w...

RG-470-DX The Stock pickups that came with it, they are great, definitly if your playing metal, leave the stock pickups in them. That's weird - I dislike the stock pickups in my RG470! Maybe they changed them on newer models, mine is quite old. I was almost sold on putting Evos in it, but I'm holdi...

I think Melodyne is standalone, but you can run it via rewire in your sequencer host. There is a demo version out there somewhere, I had it running for a while but I think it must have been time bombed because its not on my machine anymore. The Antares Autotune plugin is about £200 for the DirectX v...

Autotune will. You set it to a particular scale and then set a couple of options on how it should correct the pitch and it fixes wrong notes. It works on anything you put through ot too, so you can stick a guitar through it to correct errors  It can be used very subtely to correct errors, or y...

For Pitch correction the best automatic software is Antares Autotune, the plugin version of the famous hardware unit.

For more dramatic manipulation have a look at Celemony Melodyne - it's unbelievable

When Steve does it in some places he is hitting the top two open string behind his fretting hand. He's only fretting the lower strings.

I'd be interested to hear as well. We've just got a FireworX for the studio, but I was thinking about getting a G-Major for my guitar setup.

If it sounds anything near as good as the FireworX it sounds amazing.

I've had a couple of these before (wore both out!) - they are great little amps. The first one I had was the black one as pictured, but then I got a 'vintage look' one, which looked much cooler. The one I always really wanted was the full-stack version, but after owning two of them the novelty wore ...
