I don't have much insight into the multi finger, multi string Vai taps, but for some unique sounding lines try tapping notes an octave higher (12 frets) while skipping strings.

When I was 2 I could barely hold the guitar. But my mom was already alternate picking at 200 bpm, so I knew I had to surpass her because as we all know speed is everything. So after a couple of months I was up to 220 and then 280. I know I know it's unbelievable right? Yall might want to try...

I don't get why everyone here is getting so offended. People will say what they want to say, and if they say vai blows, who gives a fuck. Personally i love it when people say he is shit becuase they have no idea what they are really missing out on. If there all getting off on the main stream shit, ...

I'm 19, I can't play any vai, satch, or gilbert songs but I can cover any style of music and I honestly don't care to learn other peoples songs. I think time is better spent practicing and composing your own music. Sure you will learn some from playing other peoples songs, but alot of the time all y...

These are in no particular order. 1-Steve Vai (My favorite and definitely biggest influence, one of the most emotive guitarits i've ever heard) 2-Michael Hedges (THE man of acoustic guitar as far as I'm concerned) 3-Joe Satriani (The father of shred) 4-Jake Cinninger (Can play any style of music and...

The kid is good but i'm not really amazed or anything, it just kinda sounds like generic classic rock to me. I teach a 15 year old that could hang with him. Give him a few years to find his own voice, then i think he will blow alot of people away. Oh yeah, cut the hair little Rapunzel. Heres to the ...

Buckethead is crazy, his choice of notes is wild. I once read that alot of his songs are inspired by the music thats played on rides at amusement parks, mainly Disney Land. Not only can he shred with the best of them, he can cover pretty much any genre of music his style is very eclectic. If you wan...

Use only your middle finger to tap. Be persistent, make sure you have mastered the technique before you move on. After you get comfortable tapping with your middle finger then you can start adding your ring finger for 4,5, and 6 finger legato licks. The best part is that when you tap with your middl...
