Re: 20 June 2010: Alien Music Secrets @ Orlando, FL (Jemfest
Words don't even begin to describe how awesome this class was, but here goes! Revitalizing? Inspiring? Life changing? Yes. A strange but funny moment for me was when I got a water bottle out to take a quick drink, and Steve looked over at me. I took a sip and put it down, and then Steve asked someon...

Re: Inspire Yourself
Ironic I just made a video that relates to this topic...

Though there's a whole lot more to say on this subject, I'll probably have a lot more videos on it haha.

Re: Noise from strings
When I'm playing on the low E, A, and D strings, my index finger rests over the remaining high strings to keep them from ringing out. This also lets me alternate between playing bar chords and single notes quickly with minimal hand-adjusting. As I move up and play on the high G, B, and E strings, th...

Re: Keeley DS1 sounds like crap thru legacy
But when it comes to perceived sound/tone/noise whatever you want to call it. Steve Vai will "sound" completely different than someone plugged into the same gear with the same settings.
If you wanna call that "tone", that's fine. I think I get what you're saying now

Re: Keeley DS1 sounds like crap thru legacy
Or maybe its because it's Vai and would sound awesome through any setup    . I bet I can set an amp a way where Steve will sound like crap! Soundwaves will remain soundwaves, no matter who plays the guitar. As I hear you speak I could mean you wanna tell me Steve didn´t need an am...

Re: Keeley DS1 sounds like crap thru legacy
there is so much more to Steve's tone than just an amp guitar and a few pedals You are so wrong ;) Check out this guy, not Steve Vai but same sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aVfc8BQZx4&feature=channel Tone , as you define it is the uniqueness of every musician, so it depends on note combinat...

RG550, or RG560 in the HSS pickup layout, both with the original wizard neck.

Re: Is Yamaha too underrated......
The reason I don't care for Yamaha is that I have never had the chance to play one that was properly setup. I'm not too picky, but these were horrible. Old nasty strings, dirty fretboard, intonation a full halfstep off, strings so high I could almost fit my finger under them..ect. For guitars I go t...

Re: Orange Tiny Terror
Could this be because of what you're used to hearing on albums? Perhaps I'd think your Crate sounded great because of my experience. Oh I think it sounds fine for just practicing/jamming along to stuff. But for recording purposes/real sound quality the Vyper and stuff like my PodX3 win out. I'm gon...

Re: Orange Tiny Terror
Actually, I think this is the real problem-guitarists are terminally nostalgic, conservative, old fashioned and prone to believing in 'snake oil'. Humans are very bad at being objective too which is why we have to use techniques such as blind A/B testing with a large sample group to bypass our defi...

Re: Orange Tiny Terror
I believe the future of amps will definitely be digital modelling, Some time back I would have agreed but now I have a different perspective. Analogue power & pre stages are the pinnacle of tonal response. I agree. Even if someday digital amps "replace" valve amps in terms of versatility and sound....

Re: A New Jem????
According to Rich over on Jemsite, it retails at $3466.65.Patill wrote:you know, the "worth" of a guitar depends on how much somebody is willing to pay for it. Not more, and not less.
I don't know anyone except very dedicated collectors who'd pay that kind of price.

I might've saved up for a hardtail Jem.
But not this one.
