Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE

I'm sending many Happy Birthday thoughts your way, and a big thanks for being such a great inspiration to so many people, on both musical and personal levels. The universe is a better place for having somebody willing to share such amazing musical ideas and still be amazingly approachable and genuin...

Re: Flexable Remastared

I thought the Ozzy re-masters sounded much fuller than the original CD releases. I'm only comparing the Randy Rhoads material here, but the bass was more prominent and the overall sound had a thicker "punch" to it. Also, I disagree with the Rust In Peace comment, I thought the whole album had a cris...

Re: New Carvin catalog

There's a lot to like about this amp, but not enough to make me rush home to order one. First off, the price is higher than I thought it would be. I have a Legacy half stack that was ordered a few years ago, and either they didn't charge me enough back then or the new version is considerably more ex...

isn't that same line used in Just Cartilage? I don't have a copy at work so I can't check right away, but I seem to remember it being on two vai songs.

[quote="Splish"][quote="Derek"]EyE - I tested it out, you cannot use both simultaneously. If you select one while the other is turned on, it will turn off the first automatically while turning on the second, which is nice. Note that there is a small delay (maybe about 10-20 milliseconds) where the s...

the last review I read says that you cannot use both pedals simultaneously, though I had thought that you could initially. I received mine in the mail last night, look forward to getting it plugged in this evening, I'll find out for sure whether they can be used in tandem... don't think so, though.

Does anybody know what effects were used on the "clean channel" prior to the pedal being turned on? I can guarantee that my clean channel doesn't sound that nice! I could hear what I think might be chorus, but what else? I'm not very good with effects and wish I knew more. When I use a clean channel...

I recently picked up a satriani guitar, I have been highly impressed at the versatility that the coil-tap gives you, for only having two pickups it really gets quite a range in sounds. I'd be curious about the Herman Li, since it has so many pickup combinations.

I've found out that my unit is a Sennheiser EM1090 SK1093... looking through musiciansfriend I didn't see anything with EM, only EW models, so that one must not be available anymore, but something comparable probably is.

Hope that helps with your question.

I've sent your question to my bass player - it was previously his, and I honestly can't even remember who made it, let alone a model number. I'm doing good to remember my name these days, equipment is something I never remember.

I use a wireless at any show with a stage large enough to allow me to move past the singer to the other side, any difference caused by tone-sapping is small enough that I can't notice it. I do tend to use a fresh battery per show in fear of an older battery dying mid-show, but that doesn't really am...

Definitely try out everything you can get your hands on. I just traded my white Jem for a black-pearl JS model. I used the white Jem for 5 years or so as my main instrument, but I liked this one just a little more sound-wise, it just happened to be more compatible with the other instruments I use, s...

I used to use the bad horsie 2, but have run into problems with it in heat/humidity situations. others have had the same problem (http://vai.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11284) so think of the situations you're planning to use it in - I use mine only for indoors performances and recording now, as I ca...

here in houston we tend to get shafted pretty bad on many of the more musical tours. We have missed at least one G3 show that came nowhere near us, I believe Vai has had to pass us over at least once in the past, dream theater had to cancel a show in houston and send everybody with a ticket to san a...
