Ibanez
Universe Custom Serial No. SV02 This unique custom Ibanez Universe 7-string is festooned with little mirrors - like a mirror ball. It was made for the Whitesnake tour and also appeared in the video for "The Deeper The Love." Anybody who saw the Whitesnake shows knows that this guitar was the star of the show at one point each night. At the end of his "For The Love of God" solo spot, the guitar would be attached to a cable and fly from Steve's hands, up and off the stage. The cable attachment can be seen alongside the guitar strap. Bathed in light, the little mirrors would reflect the spotlight, throwing beams of light out across the audience. Surprisingly, the hundreds of little mirror pieces are largely still intact more than ten years later. The guitar features chrome knobs, and the pickups, originally white, have been covered with reflective silver veneers. Like the UVMC guitar featuring the serial number SV01, this guitar also features a non-standard wider neckplate. Although the guitar is fitted with a tremsetter, the guitar also has a 9-volt battery wedged in the trem cavity, preventing any movement of the tremolo. This guitar is now stored in the vault. |
